Terms and Conditions
The web site contains specific rules and regulations applicable for students enrolling on and attending courses with the Cambridge Institute of Dog Training and Behaviour (CIDBT). Quite simply, each student is expected to comply with these rules and regulations and we ask that they read them and agree to them at the outset.
Tuition fees are payable in full or by instalment before any course materials are dispatched or attendance of a residential or one-day course. Payment can be made by credit or debit card via PayPal (you do not need to be a PayPal member), direct to our bank by EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) or by Cheque. We will take all reasonable care to keep the details of your order and payment secure, but in the absence of negligence on our part, we cannot be held liable for any loss you may suffer if a third party procures unauthorised access to any data you provide when accessing or ordering from the website.
Payment and Instalment Payments
Students will be charged tuition and fees at rates established by the CIDBT and published on the web site. The tuition and fees may be subject to change. The CIDBT evaluates institutional tuition and fee rates periodically. Tuition rates may also vary depending on a student’s enrolment status. The tuition and fees do not include other programme costs, such as, but not limited to, books, videos, supplies, equipment costs and other costs associated with the selected programme of study. These additional costs are the obligation of the student.
It is a student’s sole responsibility to ensure that all tuition and fees for each course are paid for at the beginning of the course or if by installment no later then six months from the start date.
If you opt to pay by instalment and any one of your instalment payments fail PayPal will usually try again a second time two days later, if that fails they will try again a third time five days later. If the third attempt also fails they will not try again and will cancel the instalment requests. If this happens we will have no alternative but to cancel your course with immediate effect and without notice.
If you are experiencing any difficulties regarding instalment payments, then it is incumbent upon you to contact the CIDBT by using the Student Request Form explaining the issue so we can consider the matter.
Travel and Hotel Accommodation
Hotel accommodation, travel and food are the responsibility of the student; except where lunches and/or breakfasts are included within workshops.
Workshop Cancellation and Attendance
Each residential workshop must be attended in the sequence specified in the course information (unless by prior agreement). The CIDBT reserves the right to cancel any workshop for which fewer than four students have registered. If cancellation becomes necessary, we will notify all registered students either by telephone, e-mail or text message at least 14 days in advance. Wherever feasible either an alternative course or a new start date will be offered but if the student does not choose to accept that offer the student will be eligible for a full refund of course fees.
Courses Containing Workshops
If you book a course that contains a workshop this is mandatory and you will be advised of the day or days when you should attend. The workshop date is booked on the day that you enrol on the course. If you do not turn up for a workshop or cancel the chosen dates in advance for whatever reason you will lose the workshop which means you will have to re-enrol and pay for the workshop element again. There are no exceptions to this rule due to the workshop preparation costs that we incur from the day you enrol. However, you may apply by completing this form Student Request Form or by e-mail for an exceptional circumstance consideration case, whereby, if successful, we may offer you a place on the next available workshop at an additional fixed fee of £95.00 and at our discretion depending on availability and circumstances.
Courses Involving Practical Dog Handling and Training
You are required on most (not all) practical workshops to bring a dog with you. A delegate dog attendance form is sent to you a couple of weeks prior to attendance along with workshop information. Your dog should be able to spend short periods of time in your vehicle. If you are unable to bring a dog with you to a dog handling workshop, we will endeavour to offer you an alternate dog handling day where dogs can be supplied which may be at an alternative venue. Naturally, most overseas students are unable to bring a dog, in such cases we shall endeavour to supply a dog for you to work with but can not guarantee this. Any questions just speak to your tutor or email email@example.com
Cancellation and Refund Policies
By paying the course fee and securing your place on a six-month course, you are committing to completing the course for its full duration, and are, as such, liable to pay the full course fees as outlined in this agreement. If for any reason you decide to leave the course within 14 days of the date of your receipt a full refund will be issued.
To commence the refund process within this period please click complete the Student Request Form.
If a refund is agreed we will refund by the same means you paid for your course, in other words if you paid for your course with PayPal we will refund you using PayPal.
In addition the student agrees to delete all CIDBT course material received and not to use or distribute the same material received to any other person or business. All CIDBT course material is protected by copyright and it is an offence to use or redistribute by any means whatsoever.
After 14 Days of Your Receipt:
We will not refund after 14 days of your receipt date for the following circumstances:
- A change in your personal or family circumstances.
- Minor health issues
- Your course work commitment time required is no longer available to you.
- Your work circumstances have changed.
- You no longer wish to continue the course.
In extraordinary circumstances you can apply for a deferral if you have not begun the course work. This is at the CIDBT’s discretion. Use the Student Request Form to apply for a course deferral.

The CIDBT may change its own terms and conditions, accreditation rules, courses, course content at any time without notice. This includes its choice of accreditation body(s) or other independent approval organisations as it feels fit. The PETbc approves and accredits all of the CIDBT courses.
Student’s Failure to Meet CIDBT Rules or Obligations
The CIDBT reserves the right to terminate a student’s enrolment in the event of unsatisfactory academic progress, failure to pay tuition or fees by stated deadlines, disruptive behaviour, posing a danger to the health or welfare of students or other members of the CIDBT community or failure to abide by CIDBT policies and procedures. The CIDBT can discontinue a student’s enrolment status for those who do not meet all of his or her financial obligations.
Success of Student
Individual student’s success and satisfaction with a course are dependent upon the students individual efforts, abilities and application to the requirements of the Institutes course. The CIDBT cannot make any guarantees in this respect.
Use of the Internet is solely at a student’s risk and subject to prevailing regulations regarding access, display and utilisation of material available on the worldwide web. Websites recommended for students are solely for use in research and information collation and storage in relation to course requirements.
Use of Images and Works
Students agree that the CIDBT may use their name, voice, image, likeness and biographical facts and any materials produced as a student while enrolled at CIDBT, without any further approval or payment, unless prohibited by law. They further acknowledge that the foregoing permission includes the right to make and use audio or video tape and photographs of him or her, recordings of his or her voice, conversation and sounds in any manner or medium in connection with any advertising, publicity or other information relating to CIDBT.

The Institute complies at all times with the requirements of prevailing legislation.
If a student feels that he or she has been treated unfairly or unjustly by any CIDBT course provider, employee, tutor, mentor, portfolio evaluator or other staff, the student must submit a written statement of the grievance to the CIDBT Registrar immediately. Where the grievance concerns an academic process such as grading, testing or assignments, the CIDBT Registrar acts as the compliance coordinator and will assign the appropriate assessors to handle specified grievances and their report will be available within 30 days. For other types of grievance the Registrar will determine the appropriate action in the circumstances and the CIDBT will comply with all prevailing regulations to resolve the matter promptly and correctly to maintain their high standards. Use the Student Request Form to complete the grievance notification.
It is essential that students enrolling on CIDBT courses fully appreciate that there are risks of damage to property and injury or death to themselves, other persons and animals when learning in a practical environment with animals that may be unpredictable.
Whilst the Institute and its staff and all personnel associated with the delivery of courses will take precautions, and advise students appropriately, to minimise such risks, neither the CIDBT nor any individual associated with course delivery can accept liability for any claim for damage, loss or injury arising from activities during a course, from the application of advice or training provided on the course or consequential loss of any sort suffered by a student.
Students therefore agree to indemnify and hold the CIDBT and their servants, course providers, directors, officers, administrators, employees, agents, subcontractors, instructors, guest lecturers and heirs harmless against all damages, claims, liabilities and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or resulting in any way from any injury from an animal as a result of information received through coursework, or from any act or omission of one of its directors, officers, administrators, employees, instructors, agents, subcontractors, or guest lecturers. A student shall take all necessary precautions to prevent the occurrence of any injury to any person, any animal, or any damage to property, arising out of any acts or omissions of such directors, officers, administrators, employees, instructors, agents, subcontractors, guest lecturers and heirs. In any event, the Institute shall not be liable under, or in connection with, these Terms and Conditions for any contract, tort, negligence, pre-contract or other representations (other than fraudulent or negligent representations) or otherwise for any loss of business, contracts, profits or anticipated savings or for any indirect or consequential economic loss whatsoever. Liability in all events is restricted to, and shall not exceed, the tuition fees paid.
