Certificate in Professional Pet Sitting, Dog Walking, Dog Daycare and Boarding – CIDBT 4119Q

This qualification has been developed to provide a professional qualification for those already working or looking to work in the area of Dog Walking, Pet Sitting, Pet Boarding and Dog Daycare.

This qualification has been designed to provide learners with the underpinning knowledge to work with domestic dogs as a dog walker, dog daycare/boarding provider and with domestic cats and dogs in a pet-sitting capacity either in their own or the client’s home. There are no practical units within this qualification and thus, learners will not be assessed on practical dog walking or pet sitting skills as part of this qualification.

Learners may progress directly into employment or self- employment as a professional dog walker and pet sitter, or progress to further learning in this area including higher level qualifications in Professional Dog Walking and Pet Sitting.

Learners should be aged 18 or above.

Level 2 Award in Dog Training and Husbandry, Certificate in Understanding Canine Care and Behaviour – CIDBT 4110Q

The Dog Training and Husbandry qualification has been designed to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding to be able to work in, or pursue a career in, the field of canine care.

Learners will understand the basics of canine anatomy, physiology and behaviour and will be able to provide care, including physical enrichment for canines in their care.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.

Open College Network West Midlands Level 6

Diploma in Applied Canine Behaviour Management – CIDBT 6000Q

This qualification has been designed to provide learners with in-depth knowledge and understanding of applied canine behaviour management and training. It provides the underpinning knowledge and practical skills to develop a career in canine behaviour management and training.

Learners will need to complete 4 days of Practical Training to develop the skills required to undertake employment within the area of canine behaviour management. Learners will also develop a deeper understanding of consulting and canine behaviour management. Learners will understand the research methods used in canine behaviour management and participate in a form of research study.

The minimum age for access to this qualification is 18 years of age.
