This module is designed to enhance knowledge gained so far. To become an advanced dog training instructor you would have to be an experienced dog trainer/instructor and have had the experience in instructing other trainers how to train.

Dave served in the Police service for 39 years and considers himself to be very fortunate in that he was able to work with Police Dogs for almost 34 years.
As an operational handler of 26 years experience he worked a total of five General Purpose Police Dogs all of which were GSD’s, in addition he ‘run on’ numerous English Springer Spaniels which went on to serve as Specialist Search Dogs with other handlers.
Of the dogs that Dave worked operationally all but one were ‘gift dogs’ to the service and as a consequence came with certain issues which required extensive work and behaviour modification to ensure they became effective and successful Police dogs.

Dave qualified as an Accredited Police Dog Instructor with the Home Office Standing Advisory Committee in 1990.
In addition to having had a very productive operational career with his dogs, Dave also competed in Working Trials and Police Dog Trials.
The last seven years of his service was spent as Training and Breed Manager where Dave amassed extensive experience in raising puppies and formulating their training with their allocated handlers and puppy walkers.
As well as tutoring with the Cambridge Institute of Dog Behaviour and Training, Dave is a qualified instructor with the National Association of Security Dog Users (NASDU) training dogs for General Purpose Security and Specialist Search Dogs for Explosives or Drug Detection, for deployment in the UK and overseas.
Dave is a Master Trainer with the Guild of Dog Trainers (MGoDT), a member of the Dog Safety Education Executive (DogSEE), a member of the British Police and Services Canine Association (BPSCA), and has a Masters Degree (MA) from Middlesex University (Professional Practice) in Canine Behaviour and Psychology.
Since leaving the Police Service in 2013, Dave has used his extensive experience of dog training and behaviour to assist pet dog owners to resolve training and behavioural issues with their dogs, he undertakes Veterinary referrals and recommendations from satisfied clients, all training and behaviour modification is undertaken utilising reward based and motivational methods.
