I initially started studying with the CIDBT with no intention on being a dog trainer or having any sort of career in dog behaviour. It was purely to help me understand my older Golden Retriever, Skye, better who developed quite severe fear-based aggression towards other dogs.
I found all the courses that I did were very well structured, fascinating, and challenging, all of which made me want to delve deeper into the subject and made me wanted to study more.
I love the fact that they recommended and provided a mix of different study aids to help teach the material like DVDs showing different methods and cases, practical workshops, case studies to work through, and books. I ended up completing my PETbc Diploma in Advanced Canine Behaviour and Psychology 3 years later, which they helped me to get! The tutors were all amazing! I mainly worked with Diane Kunas and Ross McCarthy throughout my studies. They were both extremely supportive, inspirational, gave useful feedback on all my work and were always there if I needed any help. Since gaining my diploma, I started my own dog behaviour company in my local area as well as online (through the covid pandemic) helping with basic dog behaviour problems in my spare time and around my uni studies. Thank you CIDBT!
